Director of Communications

JOB TITLE: Director of Communications

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full-time

DEPARTMENT IN GFWC: Communications & Public Relations

REPORTS TO: Chief of Operations

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Communications, under the supervision of the Chief of Operations, will work to create, implement and manage both internal and external communications media, such as GFWC’s Clubwoman Magazine, GFWC.org, and GFWC’s social media accounts. This position works with the Chief of Operations and the GFWC Executive Committee to enhance the brand, engage the membership and share information regarding the organization’s history, activities and accomplishments.

In addition to the list of responsibilities below, the Director of Communications will perform additional duties that are consistent with the general area of responsibilities of this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage production of and contribute content to GFWC’s bimonthly printed magazine, including content organization, vendor management, graphic design and editing
  • Maintain accurate and current information across GFWC’s communication outlets – history, events, achievements, etc.
  • Develop and publish content for GFWC’s regular membership communications – newsletter, briefings, and social media accounts
  • Design and create marketing materials for GFWC
  • Source opportunities and develop relationships with media to promote GFWC initiatives and endeavors at the local and national level
  • Maintain GFWC brand through consistent stylistic guidelines
  • Oversee production of GFWC internal documents and publications
  • In cooperation with GFWC leadership and the COO – research, develop and implement GFWC’s communications strategy
  • Manage Communications and Public Relations Department staff
  • Serve as liaison with clubwomen, various committees and organizational leadership for all issues and meetings relating to communications & marketing strategies

 QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • 10 years of writing, editing, and print production experience
  • Advanced degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Design is preferred
  • Excellent judgment, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Extensive experience with InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong management experience with coaching and mentoring staff development
  • Exceptional written and oral presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Dynamic team player and strategic thinker
  • Ability to travel, as needed, for GFWC events

Director of Finance

JOB TITLE: Director of Finance

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full-time

DEPARTMENT IN GFWC: Finance & Events

REPORTS TO: Chief of Operations

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Finance, under the supervision of the Chief of Operations, will work to establish policies, procedures, and controls to insure sound financial management; maximize the return on the financial assets and investments; manage internal business planning; and oversee day-to-day accounting and event operations.

In addition to the below list of responsibilities, the Director of Finance will perform additional duties that are consistent with the general area of responsibilities of this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Guide financial decisions by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Work with GFWC leadership to institute practices and internal controls in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
  • Develop reporting tools to keep GFWC Treasurer, Budget & Finance Committee, Board of Directors and Executive Committee informed of organizational finances
  • Ensure compliance with federal and local legal requirements
  • Maintain strong working relationship with outsourced accounting firm, investment management firm, tenants & auditors
  • Manage budget development process and advise on priorities and long-term financial planning
  • Ensure timely completion of annual audit and filing of 990
  • Oversee finance and event staff including hiring, training, evaluation, and corrective action
  • Coordinate with event management staff to ensure successful events that adhere to established budgets and expectations

 QUALIFICATIONS:

 Accounting degree, Master of Business Administration preferred

  • Familiarity with nonprofit finance and accounting regulations and best practices
  • Excellent judgment, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online and Excel
  • Strong management experience with coaching and mentoring staff development
  • Exceptional written and oral presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Dynamic team player and strategic thinker
  • Ability to travel, as needed, for GFWC events
