Costs and Logistics

To participate in Rebuilding New Orleans Together, volunteers pay their own travel expenses to reach New Orleans and a $250 participation fee, which covers dormitory-style housing and food for the week.

GFWC volunteers should plan to arrive in New Orleans on Sunday, May 17, and leave after 12 noon on Friday, May 22. You may stay through the afternoon on Sunday, May 24.

A typical workday is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a variety of activities suitable for individuals with varying skills and physical capabilities. Daytime work leaves room for evening programming developed by GFWC and local partners, as well as the opportunity for you to explore one of the country’s treasured cities.

National Trust staff will offer a special opportunity to explore the unique preservation story of New Orleans, as well as discuss some of the ongoing work of the field office currently located there.
