The General Federation of Women’s Clubs is excited to be a part of the “Give A Day. Get A Disney Day” promotion as an approved volunteer organization through the HandsOn Network. The program celebrates volunteerism by offering a complimentary one-day admission ticket to a Disneyland® Resort or Walt Disney World® Resort theme park upon successful completion of an eligible* volunteer activity.
GFWC is working with the HandsOn Network, the volunteer-focused arm of the Points of Light Institute, to make the verification process as easy as possible for clubs. All events and volunteers must be registered with the HandsOn Network. GFWC is an eligible volunteer organization, meaning, that as a federated club, individual clubs are also approved and do not have to apply for separate approval. The GFWC Membership Services Department will work directly with the HandsOn Network to register and verify club events and activities.
In order to qualify for the free Disney ticket promotion, GFWC clubs must follow these steps and guidelines:
Establish a “GFWC Club Contact” to serve as the liaison with GFWC for your club’s “Give A Day. Get A Disney Day” event. The GFWC Club Contact can be anyone from your club. She is responsible for registering the event with GFWC using the GFWC Event Registration Form, communicating with volunteers, and providing GFWC with a list of all eligible* volunteers upon successfully event completion.
Plan your qualified volunteer service event and have your GFWC Club Contact register this activity with GFWC using the GFWC Event Registration Format least two weeks prior to the event date.
The GFWC Club Contact downloads the GFWC Event Registration Form, completes the Form, and returns the Form to GFWC via e-mail at GFWC@GFWC.org or fax to 202/835-0246. This must be done at least two weeks prior to your event date.
GFWC will register the event with the HandsOn Network within three business days.
Your GFWC Club Contact will receive an e-mail from GFWC when this registration process is complete.
The GFWC Club Contact notifies potential activity/event volunteers to sign-up for your event on the “Give A Day. Get A Disney” webpage at www.disneyparks.com. Be sure to provide the event zip code, as this is how events are listed on the Disney® website. Event volunteers do not have to be limited to clubwomen. It is up to your club to determine participants. In other words, you may invite friends, family, potential members, and others to participate in your volunteer service activity.
Each volunteer must sign-up individually for your club’s service event in order to be eligible for the free theme park ticket. This is done by going to www.disneyparks.com, clicking on the “Give A Day. Get A Disney Day” link, and completing the online HandsOn Network registration form before the scheduled event.
Upon immediate conclusion of your club’s event, your GFWC Club Contact must send a list of all participating volunteers to GFWC via e-mail at GFWC@GFWC.org or via fax to 202/835-0246. This step must be completed within 24 hours of the event’s completion.
GFWC will verify the event and participants with Disney and the HandsOn Network within three business days.
Once verified, all participating volunteers will receive an-email with instructions on how to print and redeem a voucher for a free theme park ticket.
Volunteers follow the instructions in the e-mail from the HandsOn Network, log in to their HandsOn Network profile, and print their theme park voucher.
Vouchers are redeemable for a one-day, one-park admission ticket to a Disneyland® Resort or Walt Disney World® Resort theme park through December 15, 2010. Certain restrictions and blackout dates apply.
