Distracted Driving Pledge Card

On September 17, 2010, GFWC partnered with AAA, the Department of Transportation, and Seventeen magazine to celebrate National Two-Second Turnoff Day. The event encouraged all motorists to limit distractions while driving, including cell phone use. GFWC members promoted the event by appearing on The Early Show and The Today Show, and by attending a rally in Washington, D.C., where speakers discussed the dangers of driving distracted. Rally attendees vowed to turn off their phone before driving by signing pledge cards and dropping them in ballot boxes.

Want your GFWC club to get involved? Discourage distracted driving in your community by encouraging all club and community members to sign the Two-Second Turnoff pledge card. Additionally, if you are one of 20 states without a law banning texting while driving, contact your state legislators to enact such a law.
