Kathleen M. Ferrara
Kathy has been a clubwoman for 28 years and has held many club, district, and state leadership positions. She is an active member of seven local, state, and national GFWC clubs. Kathy previously served on the GFWC Board of Directors as director-elect of junior clubs and currently serves as a strategic planning committee member. She also serves on the GFWC New Jersey State Convention Committee as membership chairman of the GFWC Central Valley Contemporary Club and as Junior EX Club vice-president.
Kathy is an advisor to the GFWC Jersey Juniorettes and was instrumental in the development of the club’s scholarship and mentoring programs. She has served GFWC New Jersey as state director of junior clubs, Home Life chairman, webmaster, and GFWC Garden State Woman’s Club president. She also served on the GFWC New Jersey Junior Membership Executive Board for 12 years.
In addition to her club involvement, Kathy serves on the high school booster club executive committee, as a church mentor, and is the charter president of “Special Parents of Special Children,” an organization for families of children with neurological disorders. Kathy is a managing partner and a chef for “From Farm to Families,” an organization that accepts fresh fruits and vegetables from local home and community gardens. Local chefs then create soups and vegetarian entrees, which are donated to families in need.
Employed full-time as a director of child nutrition, Kathy belongs to several professional organizations including the American School Food Service Association, National Association of Culinary Professionals, and the Citizen’s Advisory on Childhood Obesity.
New Jersey Governor James McGreevy named Kathy “Outstanding New Jersey Volunteer of the Year” for her work with the North Jersey Developmental Center, a junior club comprised of all developmentally disabled clients. Kathy was also the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, New Jersey Junior of the Year, and the American Diabetes Association Volunteer of the Year Award.
Kathy is certified in nonprofit management and nonprofit communications and marketing. She is the mother of two grown sons who both volunteer in their community.
