Marian St.Clair has been a valued GFWC member since 1989. Born in Virginia to a military family, Marian lived in various locations, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, before studying Liberal Arts at Virginia Tech and moving to South Carolina.
Since her term as South Carolina State President (2002-2004), Marian has served GFWC on the Bylaws Committee (2004-2006); as Beautification Chairman (2006-2008); on the Leadership Committee (2008-2010); Treasurer (2010-2012); and Secretary (2012-2014). She also assisted with LEADS, presenting the workshop How to Write a Great Speech, from 2003 to 2009. In her state, Marian is currently Parliamentary Advisor.
Marian is a Master Gardener and Master Naturalist. She works as a garden tour coordinator, organizing trips to Europe and other areas of interest, as well as freelance garden writer, contributing feature stories to Carolina Gardener Magazine and regular columns toThe Greenville News. As a gardening expert, she has been guest of Martha Stewart Radio and local media, and is a frequent presenter at symposia. In 2008, she earned a Gold Award from the Garden Writers Association.
A dedicated community volunteer who relishes hands-on opportunities, Marian has been honored by the Rape Crisis Network, the South Carolina Wildlife Federation, and many others. In 1997, she was distinguished as a GFWC Woman of Achievement.
Married to Tim St.Clair, an attorney and volunteer cycling coach for JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, the couple has two adult sons and two grandchildren.
