Welcome to GFWC Headquarters!
GFWC Headquarters, a National Historic Landmark, is located at 1734 N Street, NW in Washington DC. The building at 1734 N Street, NW became the official headquarters of the General Federation of Women's Clubs in 1922. Over the years, GFWC has maintained the integrity of the building's historic Victorian style through generous contributions from members and friends. Such bigheartedness combined with history and tradition are what make GFWC Headquarters more than an office building; 1734 N Street, NW is a home.
Since 1922, thousands of GFWC members have visited GFWC International Headquarters, as well as numerous political dignitaries, celebrities, and notable professionals. The GFWC International President and GFWC staff encourage members, friends, and associates to visit Washington, D.C. and tour GFWC Headquarters.
GFWC welcomes both individuals and groups for tours, available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Each tour lasts 1 to 2 hours depending upon the number of visitors. To schedule a visit, please contact Women's History and Resource Center Manager Brian Coburn at 202-347-3168 ext. 137. Walk-ins are accepted; however, GFWC recommends scheduling a visit to ensure the best possible experience. GFWC also welcomes students and researcher visits to the WHRC.
