Women's History Month 2009 Observance

View photos from this event online!

GFWC's Women's History Month 2009 special event commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Women's History and Resource Center, which opened to the public on May 1, 1984. GFWC clubwomen, friends, and guests gathered to celebrate this important milestone.

The afternoon program featured Helen Bannon, biographer and historical interpretor of GFWC clubwoman Jesse Jack Hooper (1865-1935). Our keynote speaker for the reception was Miriam Arond, director of the Good Housekeeping Research Institute. Former Editor-in-Chief of American Health (1996-1999) and Child magazine (2000-2007), Ms. Arond is a recognized authority on women's health, family, lifestyle, and relationship issues. Her visit reflects a long relationship between GFWC and Good Housekeeping, including a shared commitment to consumer advocacy beginning with support of pure food and drug legislation in 1906.
