Work and Activities

No matter what your background or experience, you can help bring families home to New Orleans by participating in GFWC's volunteer vacation.

All volunteers must be 18 or older. Work projects are Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. A minimum of two workdays is preferred. Since the work week runs Monday-Friday, volunteers should plan to arrive on Sunday and leave the following Saturday or Sunday.

Jobs performed will vary according to the workscope and personal abilities and limitations, and may consist of skilled or unskilled tasks, such as painting, flooring, sheetrocking, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, project management, cleanup, etc. All volunteers will be asked to sign waivers of liability, but will also be given a safety overview and general orientation onsite.
