GFWC - Membership Program
Membership Program
GFWC clubwomen are at the heart of all we do, and it is vital that clubs, districts, and states continue to learn new ways to recruit new members, retain current members and build new clubs, including Juniorette clubs. By making membership matter, we continue the GFWC legacy of service!
Find membership recruiting materials in the GFWC Marketplace! Recommended resources include:
RECRUIT
- Hold a membership recruitment event in October, as part of GFWC’s nationwide membership campaign, ACT in OCT.
- Request the free quarterly membership publication, Membership
Matters, from GFWC Membership Director Debbe Gladstone (one per club, please). Submit and share successful membership recruiting efforts with GFWC members through this publication.
- Promote membership by wearing GFWC emblematic merchandise, especially at club events or while traveling.
RETAIN
- Conduct a member orientation program every year. The more members know, the more clubs will grow!
- Show the GFWC DVD to engage members in the legacy of the Federation.
- Encourage members to subscribe to GFWC Clubwoman magazine.
- Celebrate GFWC Federation Day (April 24).
- Recognize GFWC club and state milestone federation anniversaries (25, 50, 60, 70 and every 5 years thereafter). Contact your state membership chairman to order an anniversary certificate from GFWC.
RENEW
- Spark enthusiasm by regularly scheduling club activities that are FUN!
- Conduct a survey to determine talents, skills, interests of members.
- Actively solicit member input for program/project ideas.
- Assess member participation in and enthusiasm for current club programs/projects.Be prepared to discontinue (bury!) programs/projects that are no longer relevant or appealing to members.
- Encourage member attendance at district/state/region/national
meetings. Establish club fund (“Dollars for Delegates”) to underwrite attendance at GFWC meetings beyond the club. Have members attending district/state/region/national meetings share their experience with entire club membership.
REBUILD
- Appoint or elect a New Club Building Team on district/state levels. Focus on identifying communities without a GFWC club. Solicit names of potential members in communities without clubs from current club members.
- Mentor new clubs: offer advice, guidance, assistance and friendship. Encourage cooperative projects with established clubs.
