Publications & Project Manager

JOB TITLE: Publications & Project Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full-time

DEPARTMENT IN GFWC: Communications & Public Relations

REPORTS TO: Chief of Operations


The Publications and Project Manager is responsible for the production of several of GFWC’s publications including Clubwoman Magazine, newsletters, blogs and other member and external communications. Manager assists the Communications Director in marketing and communications activities to promote GFWC, its members, and activities. This person will be a key team player for editing, designing, laying out, and developing content for both print and digital media. In addition to the below list of responsibilities, the Manager will carry out other assigned tasks that are consistent with the general area of responsibilities of this position.


• Handles the design and production of and contributes content to GFWC’s quarterly digital magazine, including content organization, design, vendor and contributor management, and editing.
• Manages the member experience in the GFWC Member Portal for the members-only digital library, with a focus on the creation and upkeep of all documents. Works with GFWC Leadership to identify needed enhancements.
• Serves as staff liaison for publishing GFWC newsletters and blogs including curating member content, writing, copyediting, proofreading, layout, and posting to
• Handles day-to-day operations of, including content management, regular audits and troubleshooting, and applying keyword and search engine optimization content strategies. Works with web developers to test new website features and answers member inquiries about using
• Creates social media and website graphics to support themes, campaigns, and priorities set by GFWC’s leadership and committees.
• Assists Communications Director in maintaining the social media content calendar, analyzing social media results, and developing social media strategies.
• Leads project to produce a comprehensive biennial manual for GFWC’s clubs; directly responsible for lay out and edits in Adobe InDesign.
• Uses established branding, maintains consistency in the designs of graphics, email banners, forms, certificates, report covers, etc.
• Attends and participates in GFWC Conventions, governance meetings, and other meetings and special events as required. Manages audio/visuals as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.


• Two years of experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders in a full-time office environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in publishing, English, journalism, or related field.
• Superb research and fact-checking skills; the ability to thoroughly copyedit while preserving the author’s voice and key messages.
• Excellent communication skills; must be able to interact clearly and politely with diverse audiences.
• Experience using email blast modules within a membership database.
• Graphic design and desktop publishing skills; Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and be resourceful when encountering challenges.
• Familiarity with AP style a plus.
