Every October, the GFWC Farmingbury Woman’s Club of Wolcott, Connecticut holds an opening ceremony for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The club places a white tree decorated with pink lights in Wolcott’s gazeebo, which the club donated to the town in 1998. Attendees then place pink ribbons on the tree, dedicated to those impacted by cancer.

This touching ceremony is just one of the contributions the Farmingbury Woman’s Club is known for. Organized in 1978, the club is still strong today with 70 members.

“Farmingbury ladies are the best,” said Rosemary D. West, the club’s president. “Whenever something is needed, someone steps up and handles the situation.”

The club also holds a banquet for members of the Wolcott Handicapped Bowling League. The club provides pizza, soft drinks, cake, and trophies to bowlers, who are persons with special needs, and their families.

“Whenever something is needed, someone steps up and handles the situation.”

Members also enjoy participating in Winter Wonderland, a Christmas event sponsored by the Lions Club of Wolcott. The club collects and distributes cookies for the event. Cookies that are left over at end of day are donated to Wolcott Food Bank.
