Women’s History Month: First Croly Award Winner Sara Hammel

Sara Hammel, winner of the first GFWC Croly Award, will be joining us at 4:00 p.m. EST March 3, to talk about her book, “The Strong Ones,” and her journey since 1996 when she won the award from GFWC. Register by the March 1 deadline, visiting Events in the GFWC Member Portal.
“The Strong Ones” details Sara’s experience as a participant in a seven-month Army strength study on women.
An eight-year Air Force veteran, Penny has been a GFWC member since 2008, and is currently serving as the club president of GFWC Helena Woman’s Club (Montana).
Success For Survivors Scholarship
Each year, GFWC awards scholarships to help intimate partner abuse survivors obtain a post-secondary education that offers a chance to reshape their future by securing employment and gaining personal independence.
GFWC Polk County Service Club
GFWC Polk County Service Club (Oregon) served as the coordinators for the Polk County Fair Talent Contest. There were two divisions (Youth from age 3-12 and Young Adult from 13-19) with 17 contestants. Laurel Jones, Vice President of GFWC Polk County Service Club, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Parents, grandparents, and friends all came out to fill the audience and it was very well attended. One of the Judges was GFWC Oregon State President, Pam Briggs.
