GFWC International President:
Charlotte Emerson Brown, first international president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, 1890—1894. As the first president, Charlotte helped create many of GFWC's policies, including those for election, organization, and rotation in office. She also traveled widely to greet new clubs and inspire others to become members of GFWC. She presided over two biennial conventions, the first in Chicago and the second in Philadelphia.
