Shelby P. Hamlett, forty—third international president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, 2000—2002. Shelby started GFWC's Operation Firefighter campaign that raised $180,000 to purchase an ambulance for the New York Fire Department to replace one lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
